Indoor Pickleball X Opens the Biggest Pro-Grade Pickleball Facility in NYC: Bringing 13 Courts and 40,000 Square Feet to Brooklyn

New York City's pickleball scene has something most cities can only dream about. Places like Brooklyn Bridge Park offer a one-of-a-kind experience. Sunset views of the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty in the distance, and a community that's made outdoor pickleball a true New York institution.

But there's a flip side. Courts fill up fast, and New York's notoriously unpredictable climate hasn’t been kind. For years, players here have watched other markets build out spacious indoor facilities with pro-quality surfaces and full amenities — and made do without it.

That changed on June 15 with the opening of Indoor Pickleball X (IPX) Brooklyn in Greenpoint. The facility spans 40,000 square feet and houses 13 pro-grade, cushioned courts.

"A lot of people who see other facilities outside the New York and Tri-State area, we're kind of all jealous about how much space exists," said Herman Han, IPX Brooklyn's General Manager. "The New York market just honestly did not have that."

The Courts

Pro-grade means cushioned flooring for consistent bounce and easier play on the joints, non-reflective lighting engineered for clean sightlines at any time of day, and court spacing wide enough to move freely without crowding the game next to you.

Each court is separated by netting to cut down on interruptions, and every court is camera-equipped for recording and replay. One of the 13 is a dedicated championship court that includes extra spacing, spectator seating, built for competitive events.

Amenities for the serious player

IPX Brooklyn is built around the assumption that serious players want more than just a place to show up and hit. The facility includes a fitness area tailored to pickleball-specific movement — focused on stretching, mobility, and warmup rather than heavy lifting — along with locker rooms, showers, a work area, phone booths, a party area, and indoor bike parking.

But the facility isn't finished growing. Han noted that IPX currently controls an additional 20,000 square feet adjacent to the existing space — square footage they haven't yet committed to a specific use. The vision is to develop it as community space, with flexibility to explore what the community actually needs.

Competitive pricing

Gold membership — the full-access tier — is priced at $269/month, with a founding rate of $228.65/month locked in for life for early members. Quarterly plans are also available. The membership includes unlimited open play at peak and off-peak hours, 50% off court rentals, 14-day advance booking, two free video recording sessions per month, and discounts on clinics, the pro shop, and ball machine time.

Pricing Chart

Drop-in players can access the facility without a membership: $40 per session during peak hours, $20 off-peak.

For reference, LifeTime — the national premium fitness and racquet club brand — runs around $379/month in the New York market. But Han is clear that IPX isn't trying to compete on the same terms.

"We're not competing for the same members per se," he said. "We just want to build something unique in the space."

The comparison is fair to make and fair to dismiss. LifeTime offers a full-scale athletic club experience — pools, spa facilities, group fitness, personal training. IPX is a dedicated pickleball facility. They serve different players with different priorities. Where IPX makes its case is in what it offers the pickleball-specific member: 13 courts, pro surfaces, and programming built entirely around the sport.

Open around the clock

IPX Brooklyn operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Staff will be on-site through most daytime and evening hours. After 10 p.m., the facility runs on a pod-play model — members with a reservation get access via PIN code, play their session, and let themselves out.

New York's workforce doesn't run on a 9-to-5 schedule, and Han wanted the facility to reflect that. "New York City has a lot of healthcare workers, bartenders, people who work off schedules," he said. "Having a 24/7 facility allows those people to find court time whenever they're available."

Location

IPX Brooklyn is located at 49 Ash Street in Greenpoint, positioned between two subway lines — the 7 and the G — drawing from Long Island City, Hunters Point, and the surrounding neighborhoods. The Greenpoint location was chosen for its transit access and for the character of the community itself.

"The Greenpoint community is reflective of what we're trying to build," Han said. "A lot of people have deep roots here."

A Franchise with a track record

IPX Brooklyn is the New York location of Indoor Pickleball X, a franchise with existing facilities in Concord, CA, Lewisville, TX, and Coppell, TX. The Texas-based founders identified the New York market as an opportunity — a dense, sports-hungry population that had never had access to the kind of facility that players in other parts of the country take for granted.

Han, who came to the role from a background in real estate, was brought in to tailor the model for the New York community rather than simply replicate what works in suburban Texas.

Community is ultimately the product

Han talks about community often enough that it's clear it's not a marketing talking point, but the actual framework he's operating from. The facility has the capacity to host social players, competitive players, and everyone in between, and the intent is for all of them to coexist under the same roof.

Programming is designed with progression in mind: structured coaching curriculums rather than one-off clinics, alongside leagues, tournaments, and events. Their full-time programming manager,Lynn, is building the calendar in collaboration with the coaching staff and player advisors, with direct input from the community.

For now, member communication runs through WhatsApp groups, allowing players to find others at their level and coordinate games. Longer-term, Han says IPX is looking at more robust tools to support matchmaking and community building.

IPX Brooklyn Community

When I asked him what he was most personally excited about, he responded, "I really want to interact with the entire community," Han said. "Make the people who come here feel like they're being listened to. What we're building here should always have what our community wants in mind."

On the question of competition with the five or six smaller facilities already operating in the city, Han doesn't take the bait.

"We're all working towards the same goal," he said. "Growing the player base."

The rising tide mentality genuinely helps everyone in a sport that's still building its audience in New York. With 13 courts, 40,000 square feet, and another 20,000 still to develop, IPX has enough room to make its own case without worrying too much about anyone else.

IPX Brooklyn opened on June 15, 2026. Located at 49 Ash St, Brooklyn, NY 11222. Accessible via the 7 and G subway lines. More information at indoorpickleballx.com/membership-brooklyn/
